Many people today suffer psychological scars from difficult childhood days, and carry these scars with them throughout their lives. These scars can affect the way a person behaves and performs throughout his life. As a consequence of such treatment many children carry poor impressions of themselves into their adult lives, and it is a sad tragedy that so many people suffer as a result of this treatment for the rest of their lives. Many people carry fears, anger and aggression into their world as adults, and this negatively affects their future families and working life. Not only that, but as a result of these bad experiences, they don't have adequate self-confidence and self-worth to make good choices in their lives. This applies to such things as choice of career, choice of lifestyle, choice of friends, choice of partners, and also how they behave in a responsible manner in society each day. This book examines the possible reasons how this comes about and how we can try to remedy this to make a better life for our children from the day they are born, through their childhood days, and into their adult lives. The effect of criticism, rejection and disrespect in the daily upbringing of our children, rather than giving love, acknowledgement, respect and encouragement, is a core component of suffering by many a child in today's world. This not only applies to childhood but also through the teenage, adult and business years of a person. Most parents teach and treat their children similar to the way they were brought up. In days past, children were to be seen and not heard in the family unit. They were not allowed to ask questions, were trivialized and disrespected as people, and sometimes physically abused. Today we realize the terrible consequences of such treatment of our children, and recognize the importance of changing the way we raise them. Children should be nurtured and protected by their parents and communities. They need to be loved and comforted, carefully taught good life skills and educated well. They need to be treated well and to feel important and worthy as people from the beginning of their lives, to be made to feel worthy people in today's world. We need to encourage them to bring out the best of their characters, and talents. Parents and teachers should be made aware of how they should NOT treat their children, and to change their own behaviour to make sure their children are given the best possible start to life, to function in today's complex world. In fact this not only applies to children, but how adults of the world mistreat other adults. There are many examples of how adults abuse each other, in the home, social and workplaces. These are all consequences of a person who is mostly scarred by bad experiences from childhood days. There are parents who criticize, bully and intimidate their spouses and children. There are kids at school who bully and intimidate their fellow students. Also, gang members who bully and intimidate their communities. There are also managers in the workplace, who criticize, bully and intimidate their workers, and drivers who exhibit road rage to fellow road users. This is all manner of bad disrespectful critical behaviour of people towards each other, with little thought of the consequences of this negative, critical social conduct. So then, let's consider the alternative conduct of respect, acknowledgement, and encouragement of each person in our lives, and the positive uplifting experience this will have on them. If we respect, acknowledge and complement our children, family, friends and colleagues, they in turn feel loved and valued. If they can learn to respect and treat others in a similar manner, it can only have a good effect on the whole community. If you feel this topic possibly applies to YOUR life, then consider reading this book. If you feel you know someone else who might suffer from such a background, then perhaps you could recommend this book to them.
