Abbye Silverstein, L.Ac is a practitioner, educator, writer, and advocate of acupuncture. A graduate of the Traditional Acupuncture Institute (renamed Maryland University of Integrated Health), Abbye earned a Masters of Acupuncture and has been practicing since 1999. She holds a Colorado State Acupuncture license and National Acupuncture Certification. While caring for her elderly mother in South Florida, Abbye began her career as an educator and clinic supervisor at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture. For the next 8 years, Abbye served as an Associate Professor and Clinical Supervisor at Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, CO. During a 2-year period, she was the Clinic Director of the student intern clinic, providing thousands of treatments to the public. Through her career, Abbye has worked in programs treating seniors, AIDS patients, recovering addicts, physically disabled adults, and veterans. A published contributor for Acupuncture Today, her works include "Treating Our Veterans with PTSD", "Five Element Acupuncture Can Enhance Your Practice", and "A Well-Kept Secret: 5 Element Acupuncture, Part II". Most recently she has published her first book, TAO meets Now, serving as a modern, user-friendly manual aimed at providing acupuncture students and practitioners with a concise manual on the 5 Elements and TCM. For over 25 years as a patient, she has witnessed first hand the positive effects of relieving and maintaining her own chronic back pain with acupuncture. When Abbye is not lecturing, educating, or writing she enjoys spending time in nature, exploring new hiking trails with her loving and loyal companion Bernie, a Wheaten Terrier.
