Rev. Dr. Dwight Perry, Executive Minister and Chief Executive Officer of Converge Great Lakes is known and appreciated for his straight-talk approach to ministry. Converge Great Lakes is a religious not for profit missions agency based in Madison, Wisconsin with a membership of one hundred and fourteen congregations that serve communities throughout Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He oversees the Great Lakes district (formerly known as the Great Lakes Baptist Conference) with pastoral care and dynamic leadership. Prior to coming to the Converge Great Lakes, Dr. Perry served as a full time professor of pastoral studies at the Moody Bible Institute, as a denominational executive with the Baptist General Conference and as a senior pastor and associate pastor in three different local churches in Illinois. He is a sought-after national speaker and is passionate about proclaiming God's Word. As a pastor and teacher in homiletics, he is one of the premier expository preachers in the United States of America. He is the first African American to graduate with an earned PhD from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, Illinois. He has published extensively in the area of practical theology including a book on homiletics (preaching) entitled Connect. This book was written for ministry leaders who have not been blessed to have formal training in the area of homiletics or busy pastors who need a refresher in the taxing art of preparing relevant and bible centered messages and is a helpful new standard for those who are engaged in the blessed art of proclaiming God's Word to God's people. He is the author of Breaking Down Barriers: A Black Evangelical Explains the Black Church and Building Unity in the Church in the New Millennium (Moody Publishers), Turnaround: Renewing Organizations from the Inside Out, and A Hole in my Soul.
