Living in the Light of Truth and Love

For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10, NLT

For most of my life I did not know that I was God's masterpiece. I tried to be pretty, smart, accommodating and successful enough to earn other people's, and my own love and acceptance. I tried to hide all of my imperfections and show the world nothing but a trim body and a happy, capable face - all the while feeling unhappy and insecure inside.

Recognizing the truth that God created me, and each of us as masterpieces, I realized I didn't have to try to be someone else I imagined to be perfect. I need only joyfully interact with the world as who God created me to be. This is the story of how I learned (and relearn) to get my focus off of what is wrong with me and onto all that is right, so I may guiltlessly and freely enjoy life. Along the way, I am learning to trust God day by day and moment by moment. My hope is that my story helps people to "stop trying" and allow their own authentic path.

For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Galatians 5:14, NLT
