He is also a Doctorial Candidate for Organizational Leadership & Management. As a decorated officer, Sheriff Peterkin has been awarded Citizen of the year twice by organizations in his community, Humanitarian Award, Key to the City of Raeford (presented by Raeford's Mayor John K. McNeill), and the Order of the Long Leaf Pine (awarded by North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory), and many other awards. Sheriff Peterkin is a Singer, Songwriter, Author, Public Speaker, and a consultant. He is married to Mrs. Della Monroe Peterkin and has three children, Antisha Peterkin, LaSwanda Peterkin, and Antonio Peterkin. He is a member of Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Led by the Reverend Dr. Christopher Stackhouse Sr. Sheriff Peterkin served as the President of the North Carolina Sheriff's Association 2015-2016, and he currently serves as the Chairman of the North Carolina Sheriff's Association Executive Board.
