This book will give you tools to create your life...but it is up to you to take action. Nobody can do it for you. It is your decision. Creating a life requires connection with yourself and others. We are designed to be loved and to love others. When that does not happen we fail in all areas of our life. Most critical, we lose control of our own life. We, kind of give up on relationships at home, with peers, teachers and coaches. We stop trying to create the life we want. Our very survival depends on our ability to be loved and to love others. Creating a life includes the classroom experience. Learning how your brain works in the classroom teaches you about you. Paying attention to this process and striving to improve is engaging. Teach yourself to work hard! Paying attention to you, improving yourself as a student and improving your ability to connect with the right people, strengthens you to create the life you want. Knowing how to change Beliefs, set Goals, being Responsible for outcomes is important for classroom success. It is equally important when creating your life...the one you want to experience. Learning how to achieve in the classroom is the same when creating your life. Learning to focus strengthens your brain. A stronger brain becomes a tool for living an independent life. A life filled with friends, relationships, love...happiness! At the end of each chapter I include sources that influenced me. Please take time to look them up...they are so valuable! You may have the feeling that doing something else may be more fun. Maybe true! But nothing can be more valuable than reading the first 3 chapters.
For the last 30 years Bob Audley has been a Teaching Assistant, Guidance Counselor and Special Education Teacher in Resource and Self Contained behavior management programs. He has experience as a PINS (Person In Need of Supervision) Prevention Counselor, Teacher at an adult psychiatric facility, Counselor for emergency shelters for youth and women, Counselor for a private practice and a Homebound Instructor for students suspended from school. Bob was selected as a member of the New York State Lottery Teacher Recognition Program and has been named by NBC Channel 3 as the Educator of the Week in Syracuse. Bob has earned certification in several intervention models that encourage personal growth and achievement. He has coached tournament soccer teams to the State Cup and Regional level, school modified, junior varsity and varsity soccer teams participating in the State Final Four. Bob has also earned a NSCAA National Diploma in coaching.
