An inspiring story of solo and team mountaineering, kayaking, rock climbing and backpacking by former US Marine, Mingo Morvin. Mingo has attained summits and triumphs that are mellowed by cratering falls to the earth and jabs by lightening while on the water in the far North. This is a story of adventure and action plus a story of love for wilderness, family and friends. You won't want to miss this harrowing and humorous journey by one of America's great backcountry adventurers.

About the Author I began my mountaineering career shortly after I completed my service in the U.S Marine Corps in 1971. I discovered rock climbing in 1972 and continued this activity till 2012, even though I will strap on a pair of shoes and pop a route, occasionally. During my 35 years of climbing I have climb many routes in North America. My hardest lead, Untickable, 5.12a on Suicide in Idyllwild. I have about 30 first ascents in Joshua Tree. I also established over 100 high quality first ascents in the central and northern Sierra's. While I enjoyed rock, the world of ice and snow fascinated me for a time. I have winter mountaineered and ice climbed in Alaska, California, Washington, Utah and Montana. I enjoyed climbing snowy mountains, solo, with first winter ascents on Mt. Morrison in California and on Glacier Peak in Washington. I stopped ice climbing when my daughters were born. There are many orphan children of mountaineers. Kayaking is my new passion in the world of sport and adventure. After a crash course, I kayaked over 150 miles on the western shore of James Bay. I am the first and only person to have survived kayaking these extreme waters. In 2009, I kayaked 500 miles down the upper Yukon River in Alaska. This trip was fun, sporty and exciting. I have paddled some of the most beautiful and remote wilderness areas in North America. During this time I carried a series of cameras. My first cheap and expendable Yashica cameras were my training platforms. More than a few of these early cameras were trashed. I have transitioned to more expensive and capable Canon cameras and lenses. My abilities have also grown during this time. I shoot wildlife and landscapes as an artist at the Gallery in Williams, located in Williams Arizona. My images allow you to experience and join my journey of adventure and beauty.
