Maryanne Maggio Hanisch's writing and illustrating is inspired by her extensive travels in the USA and abroad, and informed by her wealth of experiences as an educator. She has taught a wide range of ages, from second grade through high school, including regular education, remedial reading and math, and art; all leading to her becoming the Gifted & Talented Specialist for over 15 years in her school district. She was a contributor to the Centennial Edition of Butler, NJ - In Story and Pictures 1901-2001, and currently to the online Italian Notebook. She contributed illustrations and stories to Cooking Up the Pyramid: An Early Childhood Nutrition Curriculum (Katherine M. Brieger, MA, RD, CDE; 1993). Her vintage watercolor scene of the Butler Railroad Station hangs in the Butler Museum. MMH has painted with oils, acrylics, and watercolors for many years.
