Swami Ananda Rishi is born in 1928. He is a graduate in Commerce and the Fellow of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants, Calcutta and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, London (U.K) He worked in various capacities in Finance Division of many Industries viz. rubber, sugar, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, poultry breeding and hotels. In 1988, he retired as a Vice-President (Finance) of a subsidiary U.S company of Taj Group of Hotels (India). Thereafter he joined Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group as Consultant and the Director for about eight years. Since 1963, he is the life member of the Theosophical Society. In 1971, he was initiated by Osho (then Acharya Rajneesh) and was named Swami Ananda Rishi. He legalised this new name in 1978. He has authored ten books after his retirement. The subjects covered are Patanjalayogdarshana, Reincarnation, Osho, Meditation, etc. He toured Maharashtra and gave lectures on these subjects in various organizations. His book on Patanjala-Yogdarshana was awarded the prize as the best book of the year in philosophy, by Govt. of Maharashtra in 1996-97.In the year 1999 he was awarded 'Samaj-Gaurav Puraskar' by Shri.Dattapadma Swami, Thane. In the year 2000, Geeta Dharma Mandal, Pune awarded the prize for his book on Reincarnation. In the year 2010, he was awarded citation as an author, by 84th Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, Thane. He is the active member of the Theosophical Society, Osho friends, Ghantali Mitra Mandal-Yoga Division and Tao Anand Spiritual Centre - all based in Thane. He was brought up in a large family of mother, father, brother and five sisters in Pune. In 1955, he was married to Ms.Indumati Karve, Pune (late Sheelavati Keshav Khare). Now he has a family of 3 daughters, 3 sons-in-law, 5 grand children and two great grand children.
