Meet Bruin and Adjustments Series is a compilation of five books from the Bruin's Home Series. Written in verse, the series chronicles the triumphs and set backs of an older puppy, adopted from a shelter. Abused, beaten and abandoned, Bruin has many issues to overcome, but, he is also a rascal. A canine Huck Finn, Bruin is used to looking out for himself. Gradually, through his adventures and misadventures he learns to let go of his fears, and to trust again. Join Bruin in his journey to becoming a trusted family member. "Who's Afraid?," "I'm So Angry I Could Just Bite Someone!," "I'm Fine!," and, "I'm Fine!...or, Not.," are four books under the theme, Crisis-Adjustments. Bruin in a new environment, finds he is going through an adjustment period, a crisis, if you will. The patterns, habits, survival skills he knows, and knows well, no longer are appropriate. And, his abuse and neglect have left him emotionally and physically in a constant state of alert. Looking at crisis from a Christian perspective, this series follows Bruin as he stumbles into traditional stages, Fright/flight, Anger/Depression, Denial, and Acceptance. Through his newly found friends, Maddie and Reggie, Bruin works through the crisis, and finds new habits and mechanisms to help better cope with change, good or bad, that may come his way.
