Mitolgicas de Viaje is a passionate description of heartbreak; a metaphorical portrait of machista power and its cowardly objectification of "love"; contradictorily providing for the redemption of the androgynous victim and the victory over her soul oppressor. Lira shows how the pain caused by an unfaithful lover who only searches for momentary sexual satisfaction will paradoxically, at the end, inseminate the poetess with inspiration and female Gnostic empowerment equivalent to a wise androgynous priestess.

Griselda Lira was born in Santa Maria Nativitas, a little town in the State of Hidalgo, Mexico. She proudly belongs to a family of medicine women -curanderas and parteras- as well as farmers. She holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in English and Comparative Literature by the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She has been a Cultural Ambassador in the United States and a Foreign Languages Teacher in its Public School System. Lira is also an entrepreneur in engineering businesses and a coach of young engineers in transnational companies. Her literary contributions in the state where she was born are steeped in dark humor towards the machismo and matriarchal systems studied in The Labyrinth of Solitude by Octavio Paz. She has been actively involved in traditionally male activities such as la Charreria, the official national sport of Mexico that involves equestrian competitions and animal husbandry, dating back to the XVIIth century. She is also a street performer, folklore dancer and a social activist in gender equality, defender of indigenous and immigrants' rights. She has given many conferences on Mexican Culture, Shamanism and Literature and English as a Second Language teaching practices.
