Tim Whitfield has been involved in the field of Forensic Science since 1975 when he began his career with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Tim retired from the Sheriff's Office on December 1, 2004 after serving as the Director of the Forensic Science Section for over 12 years. Tim returned to law enforcement in 2005 and currently serves as the Director of the Scientific Investigation's Section of the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. In addition to Tim's duties in both Pinellas and Hernando, Tim has also doubled as the Team Leader for the Florida Sheriff's Association State-Wide Forensic Task Force. Mr. Whitfield's background in Forensic Science is extensive. Tim has been an adjunct professor at Saint Petersburg College and St. Leo University where he was instrumental in helping to establish both forensic science programs. Tim has also been an adjunct instructor in Forensic Investigation classes at the Institute of Police Technology and Management out of the University of North Florida since 1987, having taught classes internationally and in over 40 states. Because of his extensive knowledge in the field, Tim has been asked to lecture and instruct classes for numerous law enforcement agencies and organizations to include the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Evidence Response Team, the Florida Prosecutor's Association, the Washington State Police, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Rochester Institute of Technology and the United States Treasury Department.
