Kim Sang Hoon, 1919-1987 is known as an avant-garde poet in South Korea and as a unification poet in North Korea. We hear in Kim's poetry a cry of a soul in agony, hoping for a better tomorrow. "Blood relations can never be enemies... We must love like fire" (from 'A Burning Desire'). Dai Sil Kim Gibson has a Ph.D. in Religion and once taught at Mount Holyoke is an award-winning independent filmmaker and writer known for championing compelling but neglected issues of human rights. Born in Northern Korea, where she recently completed her eighth and most personal film, People Are the Sky, she was immediately drawn to Kim Sang Hoon as a kindred spirit on encountering his poems.
