Anton Holban est un crivain roumain majeur n le 10 fvrier 1902 et dcd le 15 janvier 1937, neveu du grand critique Eugen Lovinescu. Il est l'auteur de romans dans une veine psychologique et autobiographique, ainsi que de nombreuses nouvelles. Francophile, il tudia en France, notamment Dijon et enseigna longtemps le franais. Homme de thtre galement, mais de sant fragile, il avait acquis, peu avant sa mort, une forme de reconnaissance. Il dcda le 15 janvier 1937 des suites d'une intervention chirurgicale banale. Une partie importante de son oeuvre fut publie titre posthume. En Roumanie, ses oeuvres compltes ont t dites et sont toujours lues aujourd'hui. Anton Holban is a major Romanian writer. He was born on the 10th of February 1902 and died on the 15th of January 1937. He was the nephew of famous literary critic Eugen Lovinescu. He wrote autobiographical and psychological novels, short stories and plays. As a francophile, he had studied in France and taught French at various schools. Shortly before he died, he gained public recognition. His health was delicate and he died on the 15th of January 1937 while undergoing a seemingly ordinary surgical operation. Part of his works was published post mortem. In Romania, his Complete Works were edited and are still read today.
