Daniel A. Hussar earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Pharmacy at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, and is a licensed pharmacist in Pennsylvania. He holds the position of Remington Professor of Pharmacy at his alma mater (now the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia) where he has served on the full-time faculty since 1966. From 1975 to 1984 he served as Dean of Faculty at this institution. His faculty service has included the responsibility for teaching courses such as Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Nonprescription Drug Therapy, Pharmacy Ethics, Contemporary Issues in Pharmacy, Topics in Pharmacotherapeutics, and Dispensing Pharmacy, and as a participant in a team-taught Pharmacotherapeutics course sequence. Dr. Hussar has written and spoken extensively on the topics of Drug Interactions, Patient Compliance, and New Drugs. His publications include coverage of all the new therapeutic agents that have been marketed in the United States during the last 40 years. His papers on New Drugs are published regularly in pharmacy and nursing journals and he speaks frequently on this topic to pharmacists, physicians, and nurses. He also has written numerous editorials regarding important issues facing the profession of pharmacy and the health care system. He currently serves as the Author/Editor of The Pharmacist Activist, a monthly newsletter, and has previously served as the Author/Editor of The Drug Advisor, and as Chief Pharmacy Editor of Pharmacy Today. Dr. Hussar is a member of and active participant in numerous professional and civic organizations. He has served as President of the Drug Information Association and Pennsylvania Pharmaceutical Association, on the Board of Trustees of the American Pharmacists Association, and on the Board of Directors of World Vision. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International. The awards and recognitions he has received include the Distinguished Pharmacy Educator Award of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the Hugo Schaefer Award of the American Pharmacists Association, the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society Lecture Award, and the Annual Alumni Award of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.
