Dr. Kanchan Kumari, is presently working as a Senior Scientist at CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur, Asst. Professor, AcSIR and Contact Person of Stockholm Convention Regional Centre for Asia Region on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). She completed her Ph.D. in the area of Environmental Toxicology. She is working in NEERI, Nagpur since 2011 and actively involved in research and development in the area of Chemical wastes particularly POPs along with Ecology and Biodiversity Study. She has organized more than 25 All India Training Programme related to waste management and water quality monitoring and also delivered several lectures in National and International Workshops/Training Programmes. She has published more than 40 research publications in peer reviewed journals, conference, proceedings and technical reports. She has also supervised MSc students for their dissertation work as well as guiding PhD Students and has received various national awards. She has been awarded the Young Scientist Award 2005, 2007 and 2009, Scientist of Year 2013 Award; DBT Women Scientist Fellowship, 2012, Best paper presentation award, 2006, 2007 and 2009 and nominated for CSIR Young Scientist Award, 2013. She is leading various major project funded by UNEP, UNDP, World Bank, DBT, MoEF&CC, CPCB, Industries, etc. in the capacity of Principal Investigator. Because of her initiative, recently one dedicated Centre on Chemical and Waste with special focus on POPs supported by UNEP has been established in CSIR-NEERI to provide a common platform where all the stakeholders dealing with chemical and wastes can share and exchange the information. Dr. A. N. Vaidya, is presently working as a chief scientist at CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur, and Contact person of Stockholm Convention Regional Centre on POPs for Asia Region, Nagpur. He holds a Ph. D. Degree from Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Chemical Engineering), Nagpur University in 2001. He completed his M. Tech in IIT Bombay in Chemical Engineering in 1987. He has worked in the NEERI, Nagpur since 1987. He is actively involved in research and consultancy in the biotechnological recovery of chemicals and development of cleaner technologies. He is also involved in municipal and industrial solid waste management sector as well as hazardous waste management sector. He is a member of Technical Advisory Group (TAG), Bill-Melinda Gates Foundation sponsored project "Reinventing the Toilet Challenge" (BIRAC, DBT). He is a member in committee for assessment of hazardous waste incinerators and expert committee for remediation of hazardous waste contaminated in CPCB. He is a member of BIS committees for biogas and plastic. He had 4 patents filed, around 25 SCI publications and supervised 6 Ph.D. students. He has also worked as project leader in over 15 projects.
