Structural Systems - Second Edition

Dr. Mehdi Setareh is a Professor and member of the faculty of the School of Architecture and Design at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). He received his B.Sc. in Structural Engineering from the Sharif University, Tehran, Iran in 1980, M.Sc. in Structural Engineering from the University of Surrey, Guildford, U.K. in 1985, and Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1990. Dr. Setareh has taught undergraduate and graduate level structures and building systems courses to architecture and engineering students since 1990. His Structural Technology seminars have helped hundreds of intern architects prepare for the Architecture Registration Examination in addition to providing continuing education to practicing architects throughout the U.S. He is the senior author of the "Concrete Structures" textbook, currently in its second edition, used by several architecture and building construction programs within the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Setareh is a licensed professional engineer in states of Virginia and Michigan, and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Institute of Steel Construction, American Society for Engineering Education, and Society for Experimental Mechanics. He has over thirty five years of experience in the analysis and design of various structures. His research on different aspects of building structures have been sponsored by various federal and state agencies in addition to professional organizations and private industries. He has received awards for his scholarly contribution to the field of structural engineering and has numerous publications in technical journals and conference proceedings.
