Since 1971, I've taught children and adults, most subjects, and all grade levels, as well as college courses--including foreign exchange students, adults learning English as their second language, and students unable to attend school due to illness, surgeries, emotional problems, or pregnancies. Some of my experience was gained while teaching in a traditional classroom; most was not. Recently, I also began teaching via the Internet. I have been the guest speaker at various PTA/PTO meetings. I have coordinated lesson plans for parents who home-school their children, and I have conducted the instruction for a tutorial program offered by the UAW at the Ford plant in Avon Lake, Ohio, for workers' children. I've prepared students for various examinations, including ACT (American College Test), GED (General Education Development), GRE (Graduate Record Exam), OAA (Ohio Achievement Assessment), OGT (Ohio Graduation Test), PRAXIS (an examination for teaching certification), PSAT (preliminary version of the SAT), SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), Catholic High School Entrance Exam, the New York State Regents Exam, the Pipe Fitter's Licensing Exam, and the Broker's Licensing Exam. I teach skills in organization, study, time management, and efficiency while I am teaching the subject material; and--importantly--I encourage my students to become independent from me. In 1970, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio. I taught fourth and fifth grade for the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, Fairbanks, Alaska, and for the Great Falls Public Schools, Great Falls, Montana. I have tutored for the Orchard Park Central School District, Orchard Park, New York and for the Avon Lake City Schools, Avon Lake, Ohio. In 1970, I was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi (an Honor Society in Education). In 2006-2007, I was inducted into Who's Who Among America's Teachers. In 2011-2012, I wrote "Teach Your Child to Learn, A Parent's Guide: Simple and Tested Techniques That Work." I wrote this book to share the skills with you that are applicable to most subjects and all grades, which ultimately gives my students the flexibility to cope with life's surprises. I understand what skills the private sector needs when they hire employees. Simply and practically stated, I teach so your child can become employed. Private tutoring is my satisfying niche. I love what I do!
