How THE YARN ANIMAL BOOK started: My Great Grandmother Caroline taught me how to make pompoms. My Uncle Roger taught me two things: how to eat lobsters with my bare hands and how to make balloon animals. The balloon animals and the pompoms came together in a hospital in Vermont where my 15 year old soul was confined with a broken leg for all of spring vacation. I sent my mother to the "5 and 10" for yarn and back the next day for pipe cleaners. I had ruined my younger sister's skiing vacation, but this was my moment to create the very first Pompom Poodle Pup. It was yellow and white, exactly like the one in the book. How THE SINGLE-MINDED PRINCE started: A severely injured gray and white cat dragged himself through a hole in our fence from a back alley in DC and collapsed in our yard. Dr. Benson, our wonderful veterinarian, patched him up, and Gray Malkin Stutterfoot joined our family and became babysitter for Tuna-Una's kittens, allowing Tuna-Una the freedom to hunt for food for her babies. The story came from a colorful dream inspired by Gray Malkin and Dr. Seuss. How I've spent THE REST OF MY TIME: As a Mortgage Broker for 30 years, I followed the lives of first time home buyers, finding mates, filling bedrooms with children, and buying bigger houses... It's been great fun seeing their families and careers grow. Now I'm focusing on writing and drawing. The magic world of Amazon and Kindle have made it possible for me to follow my dreams! I hope you will share them with me!
